Anne Marie

Anne Marie Kennedy is a qualified sport and exercise psychologist having received her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Psychology and her Master of Science in Sport and Exercise Psychology from the University of Ulster, the only postgraduate programme in sport psychology in Ireland accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS). She is also a fully accredited sport psychologist with the Irish Institute of Sport (IIS).

Anne Marie is a fully registered and insured yoga teacher having completed her 2 year teacher training with the Yoga Therapy and Training Centre, Dublin. Not satisfied to end her learning there and to deepen her understanding of yoga specifically for golf, Anne Marie travelled to Arizona, USA to study under the expert tutelage of Katherine Roberts, Founder and President, Yoga for Golfers®, Nike Swoosh Elite Athlete and Advisory Staff Member Golf Magazine Fitness Panel Expert. Katherine remains a close confidante and mentor to Anne Marie to this day.

Anne Marie has also undergone training in yoga specifically for sports. Her training included an in-depth study of sports injuries; prevention and rehabilitation, the anatomy of stretching, sports nutrition, functional movement screening, posture analysis and yoga nidra.

The founder of Yoga for Golf Ireland® and Sports Yoga Ireland™, Anne Marie is Ireland’s leading expert in yoga for golfers® and yoga for sporting performance. She enjoys successful working relationships with many of Ireland’s top PGA Touring Professionals and coaches including, GUI National Coach Neil Manchip, Kenny Fahey, Johnny Foster, Donal Scott and ILGU high performance coach David Kearney. She is the resident yoga for golfers® expert at the GUI National Golf Academy, the yoga performance coach and sport psychologist for the Paddy Harrington Golf Scholarship at Maynooth University.

Anne Marie also continues to work very closely with the Dublin GAA Senior Football Team in the capacity of sports yoga coach and as a sport psychologist. Anne Marie has been part of Jim Gavin’s back room team since 2103 and has seen them win 4 consecutive Allianz League Titles 2013-2016, 5 consecutive Leinster Titles 2013-2017 and the All-Ireland Championship in 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017.

Anne Marie has recently been appointed as the Lead Performance Psychologist with Cricket Ireland and will be working with and supporting athletes across all the national squads from U15 to the Men and Women’s Senior International Team.

Apart from her work in golf and GAA, Anne Marie also works with clients in rugby, professional and amateur football, rowing, cycling, triathletes and other recreational athletes while also enjoys working with youth athletes at 2nd level; college and university sports teams.
